Review:
What if you're not normal after all? If you have unexplained abilities that are not usual to anyone? And what if this gift is something you have inherit from one of your parents--which happens to be a Greek god or goddess?

That's what Percy Jackson, a twelve-year old dyslexic, ADHD kid who studies at Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York. He happened to be the typical sixth-grade but that changed after he learned that he wasn't so normal after all, that all those weird events that had happened in his life was caused by the fact that he's paternal father isn't normal too. That his father may be one of the Greek gods who sits in the twelve thrones of Olympus.

After being chased by a Minotaur with his mother and his friend Grover, a satyr, he stumbled upon Camp Half-Blood, a training grounds for young children who happened to be demi-gods, half-god and half-human. There he learned that he was not just a son of one of the Greek gods, but the son, the only spawn of the sea god, Poseidon. And if that isn't enough to surprise him, his uncle Zeus' master lightning bolt is missing and there was no other prime suspect than him. Now, Zeus children, the other gods and goddesses are looking for him with the intention of bringing him to Zeus either dead or alive.

Now Percy and his friends, Annabeth and Grover have just ten days to find the bolt and return it to Zeus to bring stop the upcoming war in Mount Olympus. But in order to fulfill his quest, Percy will have to do more than to catch the real thief; he also have to come to terms with his father who abadoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him about the betrayal of a friend, and lastly, to unravel a treachery that might be even more powerful than the gods themselves.

The Lightning Thief is a great book I've enjoyed through the start from the last chapters. Percy as the main protagonist, is a colorful character who you will learn to love and watch to develop as the story progresses along with his friends, Annabeth, the child of Athena, and Grover, a satyr who also happens to be Percy's guardian.

Rick Riordan's engaging writing first person writing was shown and has the power to keep one from reading it again and again without feeling bored.
